Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá (UTP) is a institution with the most hierarchy state on higher scientific-technologic education reference on Panama. Its root started in the old engineering Universidad de Panamá's College; on 1975 it was one step closer to be the polytechnic institute, but It need to change to Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá by the law 18 on August 13, 1981. Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá is autonomous therefore it has the capability to accomplish their own functions and goals by their own authorities, chosen according to the norms.
At UTP, the responsibility of administration and the development of academic as the betterment of the teaching and learning process related with the carriers and pre-grade, vice-rectory academic, the six faculties, the general secretariat and in the seven regional centers.
The activities related to research and extension and development are managed through the Vice-Rector for Research, graduate and extension, research centers, faculties and regional centers. The administrative tasks are the complement and support the academic, research and extension for different directorates, departments and units established by law, statutes, government bodies and the administration for this purpose.
